Overview
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is seeking individuals interested in serving as Detention Officers within the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
Detention Officers typically work only 14 days a month on 12-hour shifts. Overtime opportunities are also available within the detention center.
Responsibilities
- Supervise inmate activities and ensure compliance with facility rules and regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities and inmate living areas to maintain safety standards.
- Monitor CCTV systems to observe inmate behavior and detect any potential security threats.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents, inmate behavior, and daily activities.
- Respond to emergencies and manage conflicts effectively using de-escalation techniques.
- Enforce disciplinary actions when necessary while maintaining professionalism.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies as needed during incidents or investigations.
Requirements
- Must be at least 20 years old on first day of work.
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess or be able to possess a North Carolina driver’s license.
- Detention Officers may live in or outside of the county with no restrictions.
- Must not have been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor.
- No Giglio issues
