What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Social Worker position at Columbus City Schools?
The School Social Worker is
responsible for serving multiple schools addressing social and emotional needs
that impact student learning. They assist in developing attendance improvement
plans with students and families to address barriers that may impact their
school attendance. The School Social Worker meets with students and families at
school and in their homes to develop interventions, re-entry and short term
counseling plans for students who have been referred for intervention.. The
School Social Worker works in collaboration with the building administration,
student support personnel, mental health agencies and community resources. The
School Social Worker provides crisis intervention during school emergencies and
provides information to students and families regarding community resources and
links them to community resources, as needed. The School Social Worker
maintains documentation and monitors attendance of students who are not
attending regularly and may file truancy based on the Ohio Revised Code. The
School Social Worker adheres to the ethical standards of the National
Association of Social Work
Licensure Requirements: Current LSW or LSW and current School Social Worker Pupil Services License through the Ohio Department of Education
