What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cook (Line & Prep) position at Columbus Brewing Company?
Columbus Brewing Co. is looking for a Cook (Line & Prep) for the Beer Hall kitchen.
This role is built for someone who can help keep the kitchen moving, whether that means crushing prep before service, holding down a station during the rush, or jumping in where the team needs support. We’re looking for someone who works with urgency, follows recipes and procedures, takes pride in consistency, and gives a shit about the quality of the food going out.
What you’ll do
- Prepare ingredients, recipes, and menu items according to Columbus Brewing Company standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well stocked station throughout the shift
- Complete opening and closing duties, prep lists, checklists, and line checks
- Follow recipes, portioning, food safety standards, and kitchen procedures consistently
- Work with urgency while maintaining quality, accuracy, and presentation
- Communicate product needs, shortages, or issues to management and teammates
- Rotate and label product properly using FIFO practices
- Assist with other stations and support areas as needed, including expo and dish
- Correct mistakes quickly and help ensure every plate goes out fresh and right
- Report any guest related food issues to a manager or manager assistant immediately
- Arrive on time, in proper uniform, and ready to work with a positive attitude
What we’re looking for
- Kitchen experience is preferred, whether in prep, line, or general back of house work
- Ability to stay organized and focused in a fast paced environment
- A strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
- Willingness to be flexible and help where needed
- Ability to follow direction, work as a team, and maintain consistency under pressure
- Commitment to cleanliness, food safety, and doing things the right way
Physical requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and move up to 150 pounds with assistance as needed
- Ability to stand for extended periods, including shifts of up to eight hours or more
- Ability to bend, lift, kneel, reach, and stay in near constant motion throughout a shift
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and changing kitchen conditions
