Some of What You'll Do:

This position is part of a 24/7 program, and scheduled shifts may vary.
Performs a wide array of direct and indirect services in the Crisis Services system. Indirect services include development and ongoing implementation of standardized clinical tools including Mental Status Exams, Continuous Quality Control, LRA Management, chart reviews, maintaining clinical quality through observation of staff and clinical functions, monitoring budget, staffing, and compliance with state and local policies. Responsible for clinical review to ensure quality control and agency standards. Direct services include assessment for youth & family experiencing acute/urgent emotional or mental problems. Emphasis is on outreach to the community as member of a team with the goal of diverting hospitalizations when possible, providing clinical guidance for Crisis staff, field supervisions, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Suicide risk evaluations and recommendations for youth in various locations of the community.
  • Crisis Counseling.
  • Referral and/or follow-up.
  • Screen certification requests for appropriateness follow certification protocol as outlined in certification manual, diverting when appropriate.
  • Screening of applicants for clinical services at various locations.
  • Location of clients by phone contact & home outreaches.
  • Assistance in assessment of client’s clinical needs.
  • Monitoring of LRA’s, to include facilitation of court orders with a variety of community providers and/or programs.
  • Crisis Triage Services including:
  • Screening
  • Facilitation of Admissions/discharges
  • Monitoring of Status
  • Overseeing Continuity of Care
  • Conduct critical incident stress debriefings as requested.
  • May provide other clinical services when/as time permits.

Indirect Services

  • Clinical Paperwork
  • Document each fact to face contact as soon as possible, no later than the end of shift.
  • Document each telephone contact as soon as possible, no later than the end of shift.
  • The files shall document the problems, interventions, and dispositions of the case, including all referrals and termination summaries.
  • Be prepared to submit files to Director for review.
  • Identify methods of improving quality by reviewing clinical records of clients that have been seen by clinicians in the department and measuring data against standards identified by the agency.
  • Monitor LRA’s to ensure that agency standards are being met and that individuals on LRA’s are being seen in accordance with state statutes.
  • Make recommendations to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Identify areas where improvement is needed and communicate/work with directors to work towards the improvement.
  • Work with directors in establishing protocols and procedures to ensure standards are being met.
  • Assist director in conducting weekly clinical oversight.
  • Assist with other job demands as they occur.

Continuity of Care

  • Provide case consultation with community services, mental health therapists, family, as appropriate, and with consumer's written consent.
  • Provide information regarding ITA disposition to individuals and agencies as required by law.
  • Assist in triage and coordination with other staff to provide appropriate levels of response to requests for assistance.
  • Participate as member of the Crisis team and CW team at large.
  • Participate in the Agency's public education program.
  • Constructively identify program needs and work with Director to enhance and develop programs and to assure service coverage and continuity of care.
  • Be available to provide crisis intervention outreach services as appropriate. Be continuously available during periods of coverage, including ensuring that his/her location is known at all times and also how he/she can be contacted.
  • Attend all crisis response staff meetings and training meetings as required; attend appropriate workshops or seminars as identified by the Director of Crisis Services.
  • Attend other appropriate staff meetings and monthly in-service training as identified by directors.
  • Provide consultation, education and training for Center staff and other agencies or individuals as deemed appropriate by the Crisis Director.
  • Be under direct supervision of the Crisis Director.
  • Receive at least one hour of clinical supervision and/or consultation per week.
  • Participate in an annual performance evaluation and the development of an individualized training plan.
  • Be familiar with laws and regulations governing emergency services and ensure that legal, ethical, and professional standards are maintained.
  • Assist Crisis Director in implementing clinical protocols.
  • Coordinate clinical care standards for Crisis Services with the Director of Crisis Services.

What We Require:

  • Master's or Nursing degree in counseling and/or social services related field from an accredited college or university required.
  • Two years' experience* in providing direct treatment to individuals with behavioral health needs required.
  • Recent graduates are not subject to the required two years' experience. Recent graduates shall receive a higher level of supervision until they 1) meet the WAC Mental Health Professional definition, or 2) receive a MHP waiver
  • Agency Affiliated Registration in Washington State is required, licensure is preferred.
  • State of Washington mental health specialty in child, disability (developmental disability/serious physical handicap or sensory impairment), and/or older adult populations preferred.
  • Clinical competence in providing assessment, supportive services, education, and therapy to consumers and their natural supports.
  • Clinical competence in the provision of individual, family and group treatment.

Salary: Starting at $36.20/hr.

*Signing bonus: $7,500.00 *Payable as: $2500 at start of employment, $2,500 paid at 6 months, and $2,500 after 1 year of employment.
