The Training Specialist (Preventative Management and Disruptive Behavior Coordinator) position is located at William Jennings Bryan Dom VA Medical Center in Columbia, SC. PMDB Coordinator is directly responsible for providing advice and assistance in the resolution of problems and issues regarding Educational Services related to the Preventative Management and Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) program.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-9. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. The education portion must include courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Responsibilities:
Major duties include, but are not limited to:- Develops strategies for effective communication of the Workplace Violence Prevention Program including presenting and/or training at New Employee Orientation, attending staff meetings to publicize offerings and accomplishments, independently communicating with officials within the agency to ensure that educational opportunities and efforts are promoted with respect to current and emerging plans.
- Coordinates with services to develop organizational educational and training plans related to Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) and Workplace Behavioral Risk Assessment (WBRA).
- Will obtain and maintain Master PMDB facility-level certification and will be responsible for teaching PMDB levels I-IV to applicable staff.
- Will prepare staff with the skills and techniques needed to recognize signs of behavioral stress and to then utilize verbal de-escalation, personal safety skills and therapeutic containment as needed.
- Recruits and trains additional staff as PMDB certified instructors. Monitors and tracks training completion.
- Identifies need for Recurring training and develops schedules to meet requirements.
- Responsible for developing. scheduling. and conducting exercise drills in high risk workplace areas.
