Position Summary
The Education Assistant provides essential academic and administrative support to the Institute of Human Nutrition (IHN) at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC).
Within IHN, the Education Assistant works closely with faculty, students, and staff to support MS program courses; coordinate student-facing events and academic activities; and assist with day-to-day administrative operations as needed. The position plays a key role in ensuring smooth course delivery, effective communication, and a positive academic experience for students and instructors.

Position Summary

The position plays a key role in ensuring smooth course delivery, effective communication, and a positive academic experience for students and instructors.
Responsibilities
- Assist MS Program faculty with administrative aspects of courses, including:
- Providing in-person lecture support
- Maintaining and updating course Canvas sites
- Communicating with students and responding to course-related inquiries
- Proctoring exams and managing related logistics
- Archiving course materials at the end of each term
- Review course materials at the request of course directors, including discussion boards, papers, assignments, questions, and lecture recordings.
- Grade assignments and assessments as needed.
- Assist with the review and revision of MS Program documents, such as the Student Handbook and Student Honor Code.
- Support Institute of Human Nutrition academic, student, and community events as assigned.
- Additional duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in human nutrition
- Willing and able to work onsite
- Self-motivated with the ability to exercise initiative and judgment
- Close attention to detail, solid verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite
- Master’s degree in human nutrition
- Experience supporting academic or higher education programs
- Experience with design or communications tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Suite, MailChimp)
- Familiar with CRM platforms (e.g. Salesforce, Element451)
- Experience with social media platforms
