DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL / RESIDENTIAL CAREGIVER
Columbia Residential Care, LLC is hiring a dependable and caring Direct Support Professional for a small Level 6 adult residential home in Chula Vista, near Southwestern College.
We support adults with developmental disabilities who may have significant behavioral and self-care needs. Applicants should be patient, calm, observant, and comfortable following individual behavior-support plans.
SCHEDULE
Wednesday and Thursday
6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday
2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
32 hours per week
PAY
$18.50 per hour
JOB DUTIES
- Cook and prepare simple meals
- Clean and help maintain the home
- Support clients with their daily routines and personal goals
- Follow each client’s Individual Program Plan and behavior-support plan
- Use calm redirection and approved de-escalation techniques
- Spend time with clients and help them participate in activities
- Take clients on occasional short outings in the surrounding community
- Assist with medication procedures as trained and permitted
- Complete daily notes and required documentation
- Follow client-rights, safety, emergency, and incident-reporting procedures
- Work cooperatively with other staff, supervisors, and consultants
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be dependable, patient, respectful, and able to remain calm during challenging situations
- Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities or behavioral-support needs is strongly preferred
- Applicants without six months of related direct-care experience may be required to complete additional training
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to our insurance company
- Must be able to safely drive a facility vehicle
- After a conditional job offer, must receive official CDSS Guardian/Live Scan background clearance before working
- Must complete the required employer-paid health screening and TB clearance
- Must have or obtain current Adult First Aid/CPR/AED certification, including a hands-on skills check
- Must complete required paid orientation, Direct Support Professional training, and continuing education
- Must be able to perform the essential duties of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation
