Purchasing Manager – Maintenance (On Highway & Heavy Off Highway Equipment)
Columbia Quarry Co., is currently seeking a qualified Purchasing Manager. This individual must be able to envision, plan, coordinate, and maintain a comprehensive parts inventory and ordering program for Columbia Quarry Co.’s centralized maintenance facility and other locations.
Responsibilities:
· Help quarry, river terminal, ready mix, and truck terminal personnel on the purchasing of new Off Highway Equipment such as loaders, haul trucks, and skid steers along with parts that are required for general maintenance
· Managing inventories with the various assigned repair facilities that have heavy equipment
· Work with managers to ensure the parts, supplies, and tires requested arrive correctly and on time to repair equipment in need
· Work with the Maintenance Software program to ensure all efficiencies are in place proactively
· Manage suggested orders daily for assigned locations to fulfill the stock orders
· Create part numbers and their descriptions within the Maintenance Software program to follow company standards
· Administratively process and approve purchases timely and to company standards
· On a regular basis manage idle inventory sitting beyond company thresholds
· Work collaboratively with management to ensure company policies and procedures are being followed
· Other Duties as assigned
· Keep inventory secure and organized
· Spearhead and development of all parts usage policies and programs
· Negotiate repairs with outside vendors
Qualifications:
· Parts room management experience is highly encouraged, but not required
· Off highway equipment experience is required
· Basic familiarization with trucking and basic industry info
· Organizational skills and process management skills
· Communication skills and negotiating skills (i.e. in the case with vendors)
· Computing skills and basic familiarization with spreadsheets and willingness to learn new software
· Goal orientated and innovative when it comes to matching problems, objectives, and solutions
