Job description
Columbia Quarry Co. is a crushed/broken stone quarry located in Waterloo, Illinois and we are in need of a Quarry Operator/Maintenance Worker. Employee would be working with the portable plant that goes between Waterloo, IL , Columbia, IL, and Perryville, MO.
Physical Requirements
Normal use of hands, fingers, and limbs. Must possess ability to bend, stoop, and have the dexterity to work in confined places and in varying positions from prone or lying positions and overhead. Must possess the manual dexterity to operate mechanized equipment including a dozer, excavator, skid steer, crusher, and drill. Must have good depth perception and coordination to operate controls. Must be able to regularly kneel, crouch, crawl, and squat to complete various tasks and be able to maintain balance and stability. Must be able to lift weights up to 100 pounds from ground level to a height of 60 inches for distances up to 10 feet.
Job Responsibilities
· Yard loading
· Pit loading
· Operation of dozer, excavator, skid steer, crusher, and drill in safe and efficient manner
· Perform pre and post-inspection checks on equipment
· Use of construction and automation computers
· Communicate with on-site foreman of daily work requirements
· Follow designated routes adhering to safety policies and procedures
· Transport materials throughout quarry into piles, trucks, or crushers
· Move raw material from quarry to crushing system
· Keep updated logs of completed work
· Identify workplace hazards and communicate them to quarry leadership while adhering to safety policies
· Complete pre-operational checks and basic maintenance on equipment
· Identify and resolve basic mechanical equipment issues
· All other duties as assigned by management
· Ability to work independently and as a member of a team with limited direct supervision
· Ability to conform to and maintain company policies and governmental rules and regulations
General Requirements
· Self-motivated and a team player
· Knowledge of aggregate processing a plus
· Understanding of MSHA and/or OSHA regulations a plus
· Welding and fabrication a plus
· Reliable transportation
· Valid driver’s license
· Must join and maintain membership in Operators Union Local 520
· Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language
