About the Role
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Dietary Aide to join our dietary team. The Dietary Aide supports kitchen operations by assisting with meal preparation, serving, cleaning, and maintaining a sanitary work environment. This role is essential to ensuring our residents receive nutritious, well-prepared meals in a clean and welcoming environment.
You’ll work under the supervision of the Cook and Dietary Supervisor and play a key role in supporting the daily food service routine.
Responsibilities
Set up meal trays and assist with serving meals
Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
Strip down returned trays and operate the dishwasher
Check and record dishwasher water temperature and chlorine concentration at the beginning of each shift
Prepare snacks and nourishments as needed
Sweep, mop, and maintain kitchen floors
Carry out trash and maintain a clean, organized kitchen
Store groceries safely and neatly
Clean work surfaces, refrigerators, and other kitchen areas
Assist the cook or dietary supervisor when needed
Participate in ongoing training and orientation for dietary staff
Maintain positive communication and teamwork with all departments
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Ability to read and follow recipes and technical procedures
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Basic math skills (fractions, percentages, ratios)
Must obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler’s Certificate (can be obtained after hire)
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 50 lbs)
Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching
Must have good hearing, vision, and manual dexterity
Comfortable working around food, cleaning chemicals, and kitchen equipment
Work Environment
Generally low to moderate noise levels
Must be able to work safely around hot surfaces and sharp utensils
