Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join a new urgent care service located within an established multidisciplinary medical facility in Gresham, Oregon.

This position offers the clinical scope and independence of a traditional urgent care practice, with the added benefit of working within a larger medical environment with established providers, diagnostic resources, rehabilitation services, and administrative infrastructure already in place.

The Nurse Practitioner will provide same-day evaluation and treatment for a broad range of acute illnesses and injuries, including:

• Respiratory infections, cough, sore throat, flu-like illness, and other common acute conditions
• Urinary tract infections and other uncomplicated infections
• Lacerations, wounds, and minor burns
• Sprains, strains, minor fractures, and musculoskeletal injuries
• Work-related injuries
• Motor vehicle accident injuries
• Minor eye, ear, skin, and soft-tissue conditions
• Abdominal, gastrointestinal, and other common urgent complaints
• Other non-emergent illnesses and injuries appropriate for an urgent care setting

The provider will also perform minor procedures, order diagnostic testing, prescribe appropriate medications, and determine when a patient requires emergency department evaluation, specialist referral, or follow-up care.

Because this is a developing urgent care service, the provider will have meaningful input into clinical protocols, workflows, and the overall patient experience, while the administrative and business functions of the practice are supported by an established organization.

A Separate Urgent Care Service Within a Multidisciplinary Facility

The urgent care operates as its own independent clinical service.

Although the same medical facility also includes an established pain management practice, urgent care is not an extension of pain management and does not function as a walk-in access point for chronic pain treatment or pain medication refills.

Urgent care patients are evaluated and treated according to the normal scope and standards of urgent care medicine.

At the same time, being located within a multidisciplinary medical facility provides additional resources when they are clinically appropriate. The facility includes medical physicians, chiropractic care, physical therapy and rehabilitation, pain management, diagnostic capabilities, and an on-site ambulatory surgery center.

The result is an independent urgent care practice with the resources and support of a broader healthcare organization available around it.

Compensation and Benefits

• $220,000 guaranteed annual base salary

Schedule

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position.

Monday through Friday: Flexible

The exact daily schedule may be arranged based on clinic needs and provider availability while maintaining a 40-hour workweek.

There are no regularly scheduled weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and injuries
• Manage a broad range of common urgent care conditions
• Evaluate work-related injuries and motor vehicle accident injuries
• Perform minor procedures, including suturing, laceration repair, wound care, splinting, and foreign-body removal
• Evaluate and treat sprains, strains, minor fractures, respiratory illnesses, infections, urinary conditions, and other same-day medical concerns
• Order and interpret X-rays, rapid tests, laboratory studies, and other appropriate diagnostic testing
• Prescribe medications and establish appropriate treatment plans
• Determine when patients require emergency department evaluation, specialist referral, or follow-up care
• Provide patient education and clear discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative support staff
• Contribute to the development and refinement of urgent care protocols and workflows
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Maintain an efficient, professional, and patient-focused urgent care environment

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced Nurse Practitioner who enjoys urgent care medicine and is comfortable independently managing a broad range of acute conditions.

The ideal candidate:

• Has strong independent clinical judgment
• Is experienced in urgent care, emergency medicine, or another fast-paced acute-care environment
• Is comfortable performing common urgent care procedures
• Works efficiently while maintaining a high standard of care
• Communicates effectively with patients, staff, and other healthcare providers
• Is dependable, professional, and patient-focused
• Is interested in having meaningful input into the development of a growing urgent care service
• Values the autonomy of urgent care practice while appreciating the resources of a multidisciplinary medical environment

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in Oregon, or eligible to obtain Oregon licensure
• Appropriate board certification for the patient population served
• Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or comparable acute-care experience
• Experience performing common urgent care procedures
• Strong independent clinical decision-making skills
• Current DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain registration
• Current BLS certification

The urgent care is located within a long-standing multidisciplinary medical facility in Gresham, Oregon. The facility includes physicians, chiropractic care, physical therapy and rehabilitation, pain management, diagnostic resources, and an on-site ambulatory surgery center.

Each service maintains its own appropriate clinical role. The urgent care operates independently while benefiting from the infrastructure, resources, and professional environment of the larger organization.
