Responsibilities:
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team. The CMA has duties and responsibilities related to patient care in the ambulatory clinic environment. The individual displays responsible behaviors, communicates effectively to others and functions as a member of the healthcare team.
The CMA functions under the direct supervision and authority of the physician when performing patient care. The CMA reports to the clinic manager or lead nurse, who is responsible for the administrative supervision and orientation of the CMA to the area's policies and procedures.
- Obtains vital signs & assists patients in preparation for examination/ procedure.
- Records and documents in the medical record.
- Ensures safe & efficient patient flow.
- Administers medications and immunizations.
- Organizes the clinic environment to assure patient safety. • Reads & interprets medical record and physician orders.
- Reads & interprets equipment in conjunction with patient information.
- Displays responsible behaviors, communicates effectively to others and functions at the highest level based on scope of practice.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Certification (CMA, CCMA, RMA, NCMA or NRCMA) is required within the first 3 months of employment.
• The CMA must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care.
• Valid BLS CPR certification required upon hire; and recertification required every two years.
• Familiar with medical terminology and documentation in electronic health record.
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
