Summary:

Sets-up, adjusts, and safely operates CNC press brakes. Must have an understanding of punch beds and tool sets. Be able to safely use all hand tools required. Must have knowledge of the hand layout process to produce parts. Reads and interprets blueprints to determine the safest and most efficient way for the operator to perform the job; and sets up the machinery to produce quality parts. Makes all necessary machine adjustments required to guarantee the parts are dimensionally within tolerance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Set up, adjust, and safely operate CNC press brakes to form metal parts
• Read and interpret prints to determine safe and efficient methods for setup and operation
• Create bending programs and edit files as needed to maintain production accuracy
• Use hand layout processes and apply knowledge of punch beds, tool sets, and metal alloy formability to ensure quality parts
• Make necessary machine adjustments to maintain dimensional tolerances within specified limits
• Perform work according to production schedules to meet timelines
• Rig and safely move parts and weldments as required
• Follow company safety policies, procedures, and use required PPE
• Other duties as assigned

1. Intermediate print reading skills
2. Intermediate knowledge of metal alloy characteristics and formability
3. Forklift certification
4. Intermediate knowledge of die setups (top & bottom)
5. Intermediate knowledge of CNC press brake operations
6. Proficient in the use of hand tools
7. Proficient in the use of power rolls, bandsaw, and oxy-fuel torch
8. Ability to use an overhead crane and safely rig parts and weldments
9. Ability to create bending programs and edit files as needed
10. Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Suites)

Abilities-

1. Ability to foster and work within a team environment
2. Actively participates in safety programs and complies with all Columbia safety policies
3. Ability to follow written and verbal instruction
4. Ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects at one time
5. Maintains a clean and safe work area
6. Displays attention to detail and consistently follows Standard Work Instructions (when available) when completing tasks
7. Self-motivated and has the ability to work with supervision
8. Communicates well with peers, supervisor, customers, vendors, and other departments
9. Ability to respectfully mentor other employees

Education and/or Experience:   

1. High School Diploma or GED required
2. College level courses or equivalent preferred
3. 2-3 years of previous experience or industrial experience preferred
