About the Role
As an Assembly Technician at Columbia, you'll build industrial palletizing equipment from the ground up using blueprints, schematics, and build instructions. You’ll work with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components across a variety of custom systems. This is a physically active role that requires technical skill, problem-solving, and the ability to work with a team in a production environment.
This is a hands-on, detail-focused position where your craftsmanship, accuracy, and ability to follow process will directly affect equipment performance in the field. You’ll be working with tools, cranes, lifts, and measuring instruments daily—alongside a team of experienced technicians.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assemble large mechanical palletizing systems from drawings, schematics, and instructions
- Wire switches, electrical panels, and control boxes
- Work with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including hose routing and fitting installation
- Adjust system components to ensure smooth, accurate operation
- Drill, tap, align, and fit assemblies using hand and power tools
- Use ladders, scissor lifts, and platforms to complete elevated assembly work
- Follow all safety procedures and contribute to 6S and Continuous Improvement efforts
What You’ll Need
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of experience in large industrial mechanical and electrical assembly (required)
- Ability to read and interpret technical prints and schematics
- Experience using electrical test equipment like volt meters
- Comfort working at height and using lifts or ladders
- Familiarity with cranes, forklifts, and large industrial tools
- Your own basic tool set (roll-around box)
