Role Description
CIU is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Environmental Biology Faculty member to join our team. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Columbia, SC. The faculty member will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality instruction in environmental biology, ecology, general biology, and/or botany, developing course materials, mentoring students, supporting research initiatives, and contributing to departmental and institutional goals. Additional responsibilities include engaging in scholarly activities, participating in curriculum development, and upholding CIU’s mission and values in both academic and campus life.
Qualifications
- Expertise in environmental biology and related scientific disciplines
- Strong teaching experience in higher education and curriculum development skills
- Proficiency in research, data analysis, and relevant academic publishing
- Ability to mentor and academically advise diverse student populations
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to integrating faith with learning and fostering a biblical worldview in teaching
- Doctoral degree in Environmental Biology, Ecology, or a related discipline is preferred
- Familiarity with current technology and software relevant to higher education is advantageous
