Summary

Under the supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor, the Deburr Technician position is reserved for those individuals who exhibit extraordinary skills and knowledge required to complete complicated tasks in the plant or department. The Deburr Technician is routinely assigned to set up and operate manual and powered hand tools to remove metal burrs and rust from raw materials and machined parts. Shall be required to operate multiple machines as assigned.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Read and interpret blueprint and process sheets.
  2. Possess good manual dexterity capabilities.
  3. Sets up and operate all machines in the department.
  4. Locate alternate gauges as needed.
  5. Work with little or no supervision of assigned work.
  6. Train others to deburr correctly.
  7. Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of High School Education. 

Language Skills - Ability to read and understand documents such as blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write standard documentation. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization

Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. Employees are frequently required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach above shoulders; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently, possibly repeatedly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.  Hoists are required as needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.  The employee is frequently exposed to hot/cold conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, and hearing protection is available as needed.
