What are the responsibilities and job description for the Composer Operator Nights position at Columbia Forest Products?
Hours 7pm-7am
Pay $21.58-$23.85 $1.50 shift differential
General Duties:
- Must be able to perform current operational work standards
- Responsible for feeding the veneer strips to the composer
- Discards unusable wood
- Check the bond and joint quality of every load
- Ability to fil glue pots, replace string, change tape, and perform maintenance and adjustments on composer.
- Responsible for keeping workstation clean, blow down machine and wood in trash carts daily
- Ability to flex to other composers as needed to help the flow of material through the finishing process.
- TPMs are a part of every position in the mill. This may include mandatory overtime.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Must be able to:
- Stand for long period of time
- Bend, twist, push, pull large materials
- Lift maximum of 50lbs.
Safety:
- Position is exposed to moving parts and a cutting blade
- must be able to perform all areas of LOTO
- Hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toed shoes and area appropriate gloves are required
Quality:
- Position is responsible for making sure that the tension and glue line are properly positioned
- Gaps and tape joints are corrected by Meinan composers. Faliure to do so could result in rejecting plywood.
- Quality gates for off grade veneer from previous process.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED Preferred
- Position makes general decisions concerning machine operations and product quality
