What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Maintenance Worker position at Columbia Farm Services?
This position is responsible for the upkeep and repairs of all buildings on managed properties: Shops, Employee Housing, H2A camps and Offices.
Job responsibilities:
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions given by Building Coordinator
- Perform basic repairs (e.g., wall damage, broken windows)
- Complete general maintenance work
- Comfortable using hand tools and power tools
- Move heavy furniture, appliances, and equipment
- Basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs. Work with 3rd party for items not qualified to do.
- Clean windows, gutters, pavement, and other exterior surfaces
- Paint surfaces and apply stain as needed
- Take on other installation, repair, and maintenance duties as needed and legally permitted
- Follow workplace health and safety rules
- Accurately using Fieldclock, a time tracking app
- Strong communication skills with Building Coordinator reporting accomplishments and reporting areas that higher skilled labor needs to be called in.
- Able to sit, stand, kneel, lift, and climb ladders
- Can reliably work alone and as part of a team
- Attention to detail, positive attitude, and strong work ethic
Additional Requests That May Be Asked To Do:
- Perform walk-through assessments and prepare cost estimates
- Basic carpentry, including finding studs, building bookshelves, and installing cabinets
- Able to perform basic mathematical calculations and convert measurements
- Rotation on handling emergency situations.
Expectations:
- Report to Building Coordinator 30 minutes prior to work if unable to be at work.
- Any scheduled appointments, please let Building Coordinator know.
- Building Coordinator approves absences or leave of absence requests.
