Position Overview
Columbia Energy is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to support purchasing, material coordination, vendor communication, and day-to-day operational procurement activities for our Idaho Falls facility.
This position plays an important role in helping ensure materials, equipment, and services are procured and tracked efficiently to support ongoing project and fabrication activities. The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, and comfortable balancing administrative responsibilities with cross-functional coordination between Procurement, Accounting, Operations, Receiving, and Project teams.
This role will report to the Controller and work closely with both Idaho and Washington-based teams.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Vendor Coordination
- Procure materials, equipment, and services in support of project and operational needs.
- Coordinate vendor quotes, pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules.
- Assist with sourcing and evaluating vendors based on quality, responsiveness, and cost.
- Support ongoing vendor communication and help resolve purchasing or delivery-related issues as they arise.
- Partner with the Washington procurement team to maintain alignment and consistency across locations.
Operational Support & Material Tracking
- Assist with incoming and outgoing shipments for the Idaho facility, including vendor deliveries, material transfers, and project-related logistics.
- Coordinate closely with Receiving, Operations, and Accounting to support material flow and purchasing activities.
- Assist with purchase order receiving and procurement documentation within the company ERP system.
- Support procurement-related tracking, filing, and reconciliation activities, including procurement card documentation and coordination with Accounting.
- Maintain organized procurement records and supporting documentation.
- Help ensure materials and services are available to support project schedules and operational timelines.
Compliance & Documentation
- Review requisitions and purchasing documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Support procurement activities in accordance with company procedures and quality requirements.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical records related to purchasing and receiving activities.
- Assist with process improvements and other administrative support tasks as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, logistics, or material coordination.
- Experience working in manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or industrial environments preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and electronic purchasing platforms.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of materials or packages up to 15 lbs.

Working Conditions
This position is primarily office-based but may include occasional time spent in shop, warehouse, or operational areas supporting material coordination and shipment activities.
