JOB SUMMARY

The Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach is responsible for leading and managing the Men’s Lacrosse program, ensuring alignment with the College's values, the Department of Athletics, NAIA regulations, and conference standards. This role focuses on recruiting student-athletes, overseeing team operations, and fostering personal and athletic development. 

Qualifications:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Executes all aspects of the Men’s Lacrosse program to achieve objectives aligned with the College, the Department of Athletics, and NAIA/conference regulations.  
  • Recruits and retains highly skilled NAIA student-athletes for the Men’s Lacrosse team.  
  • Develops, monitors, and manages the annual budget for the program.  
  • Ensures that student-athletes and assistant coaches adhere to college policies, Department of Athletics guidelines, NAIA regulations, and conference rules.  
  • Oversees the conduct and discipline of student-athletes.  
  • Develops and implements a marketing plan to enhance the visibility and support of the sport.  
  • Organizes and conducts team practices, including strength and conditioning sessions and competitive games.  
  • Counsels student-athletes on participation in the sport and personal development, focusing on academic and athletic success.  
  • Collaborates with Admissions and Financial Aid to recruit student-athletes.  
  • Selects, supervises, and evaluates assistant coaches and support personnel.  
  • Monitors and encourages the academic progress of student-athletes.  
  • Travels overnight as required for competitions and team activities.  
  • Works evenings and weekends during the season and as needed.  
  • Performs additional functions and duties as requested by the Director of Athletics.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:  

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • This position requires a valid driver’s license, good driving record and must be insurable by the Colleges insurance carrier.
  • Proven ability to recruit skilled players for the respective sport.
  • Previous coaching experience at the collegiate level or equivalent with a proven track record of success.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of NAIA regulations and guidelines.
  • Ability to counsel student-athletes on personal conduct, academic performance, and athletic participation, with an emphasis on sportsmanship.  
  • Proficiency in preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports, particularly concerning budget-related data. 
  • Must be able to work flexible hours which may include early/late hours, occasional weekends, and the ability to travel.
  • Must have a high attention to detail and maintain a personal standard of excellence. 
  • Must have desire and knowledge to help maintain sports facilities as needed for practice and game day competitions.
  • Must be willing to work within and follow the guidelines of the College, and the Department of Athletics at all times.

  • Ability to multitask and manage various responsibilities efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of constituencies within the community.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; strong interpersonal skills to foster a cooperative environment.
