Join Our Team as a Teacher Assistant Substitute!
Location: Berwick, PA
Schedule: Typically, Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Hours and weeks based on need; typically weeks/months long due to scheduled Teacher Assistant's absence

Teacher Assistant Substitutes!

In this essential role, you’ll work alongside a team of educators to create a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment where children can grow, explore, and thrive.

What You’ll Do
As a Teacher Assistant Substitute, you’ll:
  • Support teachers in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Interact positively with children to promote their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, healthy, and organized classroom environment.
  • Step into the lead role in the teacher’s absence.
  • Communicate daily with parents and staff to support each child’s development.
  • Maintain accurate records such as attendance, assessments, and progress notes.
  • Implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) strategies.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Capable of participating in active play and physical activities with children.
  • Must be able to frequently bend, kneel, stoop, sit on the floor, reach overhead, and safely navigate stairs, step stools, and step ladders.
A Few More Details
  • This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) position under the supervision of the Education Manager and team.
  • Travel is generally not required but may occasionally occur.

Requirements

Education & Experience
All positions must have experience with young children and their families; such as knowledge of human development, family dynamics and the needs of children. Knowledge of the health, nutrition, social, and educational needs of the young child.
  • Teacher Assistant: Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent. Obtain a CDA within 24 months of hire.
  • Teacher Assistant II: Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent and a CDA in Early Childhood Education.
  • Teacher Assistant I: Possess an AA in Early Childhood Education.
Plus:
  • Passion for working with young children.
  • Team-player mindset and a positive, professional attitude.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to pass a physical exam and background checks.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
