What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Financial Service Representative position at Columbia Basin Health Association?
Responsible for the proper and timely processing of claims, payments, and various other electronic transaction and processes. Contacting and arranging payment for delinquent accounts through direct patient contact.
- Responsible for claim processing
- Responsible for processing payments to/from third-party providers daily
- Responsible to prepare associated correspondence on information requests
- Ensures payment system files and information is correct and resolves issues as appropriate.
- Responsible for handling delinquent patient accounts.
- Monitors the patient payment agreement process.
- Responsible for performing general clerical duties to include assisting in answering telephone inquiries regarding patient bills and other inquiries
- Promotes a positive work culture and upholds clinic policies and procedures, including the WE CARE standards of Behavior
- Must uphold confidentiality at all times in regards to CBHA activities, reports, financials, patient health information and other proprietary information specific to CBHA
- Other duties as assigned
- Possesses general work-related skills at a higher level than completion of high school, including written and verbal communications skills, computational and computer skills, and mathematical knowledge frequently acquired through completion of a "business school (non BA/BS)" or "associates degree" type program
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in medical billing department or other billing service
- Possesses basic understanding of medical terminology and procedures
- Possesses knowledge of healthcare insurance claims practices and rules for compliance
- Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel to create tables and simple displays of information
- Ability to prepare and interpret financial and statistical reports
- Ability to create basic presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint
- Ability to provide effective communication of information during informal and formal verbal presentations
- Ability to provide effective communication of information in written (including electronic) correspondence
- Ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear effective manner for a general audience
