Hobbit’s Glen is consistently rated among the top public golf courses in Maryland. With recent renovations including USGA-spec putting greens, updated bunkering, and a beautiful clubhouse, the course offers outstanding playing conditions and an exceptional experience for both members and staff.
Position Overview:
The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and the General Manager of Golf Maintenance to ensure the highest standards in turf maintenance, agronomy practices, and course presentation. This hands-on role involves leadership, staff training, daily planning, and execution of all aspects of golf course maintenance.
This is an excellent opportunity for a new assistant superintendent looking to launch their career in the golf industry. We also strongly encourage students currently enrolled in a turf grass program—or those looking to begin one—to apply. Key Responsibilities:
Assist in planning and executing daily maintenance operations
Supervise and train crew members on best management practices
Monitor course conditions and participate in scouting for pests, diseases, and turf stress
Participate in irrigation operation, troubleshooting, and repair
Apply fertilizers and pesticides as needed, maintaining proper record-keeping
Help ensure a safe, organized, and productive working environment
Qualifications:
2- or 4-year degree in Turf grass Management or related field preferred
Minimum 2 years of golf course maintenance experience
Maryland Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain within 6 months
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Team-first mindset and willingness to grow into a leadership role

The pay range for this position is $23.30 to $27.00. The actual pay rate offered will depend on the overall qualifications of the individual applicant for the position and the amount budgeted for the role.
