What You'll Do
As a Captive Diesel Technician, you'll work on-site at a dedicated customer location on a set schedule, performing routine repairs and maintenance for that customer's fleet. Day to day, you will:
- Perform preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and routine service on commercial fleet vehicles
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and emissions issues on pickups, medium-duty trucks, big rigs, delivery vans, yard spotters, trailers, and reefers
- Respond to breakdowns and urgent repair needs at the customer site
- Perform brake service, filter changes, fluid service, welding and fabrication as needed, and complex diagnostics using premium heavy-duty equipment
- Work directly with the customer on-site, representing Coltrain with professionalism and expertise
- Keep accurate service records and maintain assigned tools and inventory
- Follow safety protocols and site controls to protect people and property
What We're Looking For
- Experience as a fleet, diesel, or heavy-duty technician (or a highly motivated learner ready to grow)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Comfort working independently in the field
- A customer-first mindset and pride in quality work
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- CDL and ASE certifications a plus — not required to start
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in varied weather conditions, and handle the physical demands of fleet repair
