Job Summary
Colson Group USA is seeking a Plating Technician to work in our plating department. This role is responsible for taking raw steel components and passing them through our zinc plating equipment. The act of applying a zinc coating not only places a bright chrome like finish on the components but also provides a rust resistant coating. This position will be responsible for the operation of the plating equipment and the upkeep of the chemical baths that are used in the plating process.
Essential Job Functions
· Running zinc plating production
· Safely maintaining chemical tanks to specified parameters using tank titration
· Calculating plating thickness process time
· Racking and masking parts according to customer specifications
· Testing plating to determine adherence, thickness, quality, surface coverage and specified buildup
· Accurately communicating with the manager regarding process problems and solutions
· Efficiently communicating necessary information to fellow team members
· Working within defined processes to ensure quality and meeting production output goals
· Continually working to refine processes and improve quality and efficiency
Experience
· Previous plating experience or automated machine operation is preferred
· Previous responsibility managing chemical baths (waste water) will also be considered for this role
Skills
- Must be able to utilize a variety of inspection tools, calipers, gauges, etc.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with the Order Pickers and Maintenance group
- Must be able to perform autonomous maintenance on the equipment you operate
- Must be able to maintain a clean work environment and manage their own tools Must be able to perform transactions in a digital environment
