About the Role:
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and organized Garden Center Employee to join our team in Alexandria, Minnesota. This role is ideal for someone who loves home and gardening and will excel in a hands-on retail environment.
This position is the backbone of our daily store operations. You will oversee day-to-day store execution, manage point-of-sale transactions, bridge communication between team members, pair customers to appropriate support, take and fulfil store orders and help ensure adequate inventory supply.
Key Responsibilities
- POS & Customer Transactions: Efficiently manage the Point of Sale (POS) system, processing sales, returns, and customer inquiries with precision.
- Store Oversight: Stay informed on customer orders, incoming inventory, and store operations, sales and happenings.
- Inventory & Order Management: Price incoming inventory, process received orders, organize store stock, and maintain clear records of product locations.
- Store Maintenance & Cleaning: Keep the retail area, checkout counters, and aisles clean, safe, standard, and presentable daily.
- Customer Support: Greet customers, answer general inquiries, and direct shoppers to the right products or team members for specialized advice.
Qualifications & Skills
- Passionate About Gardening & Home: A genuine interest in plants, home decor, or outdoor living (formal botanical expertise is NOT required!).
- Operational Focus: Thrives on organization, routine maintenance, inventory accuracy, smooth operational flow, and creating systems.
· Reliable & Punctual: Ability to work a consistent 5-day weekly schedule. All employees are required to work some weekend hours each month.
- Physical Capability: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift to 50 lbs comfortably throughout the shift (e.g., handling soil bags, outdoor supplies, and other store inventory).
- Technology: Comfortable operating POS software and phone systems
