What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Designer position at Colordrift LLC?
Company Description Colordrift LLC is a textile design and manufacturing powerhouse with over 100 years of industry leadership. We are passionate about creating beautiful, and trend-forward home textiles for major retailers from coast to coast. Based in the creative heart of DUMBO, Brooklyn, our close knit team thrives on collaboration, innovation, and design excellence. We value collaboration, creativity, and attention to detail in every product.
Role Description We are seeking a talented, technically proficient Graphic Packaging Designer for a full-time, on-site role at our DUMBO studio.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between form and function. You will own the entire packaging lifecycle for our home textile collection—from initial concepts and mockups to final typography, branding, and factory-ready production files. Day-to-day tasks include creating dielines and layouts, developing graphics and typography for packaging, and collaborating with product, marketing, and production teams to ensure packaging is functional, gorgeous, and cost-effective. You will ensure our products stand out on crowded retail shelves!
Core Responsibilities
- Production & Tech Packs: Build flawless, production-ready dielines, tech packs, and specification sheets for overseas and domestic manufacturing partners.
- 3D Visualizations: Generate realistic 3D mockups and digital renderings for retailer presentations.
- Work on-site in Brooklyn, NY to manage multiple projects, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and follow retail partner guidelines
Qualifications
- 3 years of professional experience specializing in creating structural packaging for home textiles, fashion, or consumer products.
- Proficiency in Branding and Graphic Design to ensure cohesive, market-relevant packaging that reflects the company’s identity, with solid understanding of Typography and layout principles.
- Technical Skills: Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). Proficiency in 3D rendering or CAD packaging software is a major asset.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Deep understanding of print production processes, paper engineering, and colors
- Portfolio Requirement: A strong portfolio demonstrating actual physical packaging projects, highlighting your ability to work with structural dielines and 3D forms (not just flat graphic layouts).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Packaging Design, Graphic Design, or a related field.
