A club volleyball coach who will train youth athletes, develop technical and tactical skills, and lead the team during competitive local and travel tournaments.
Position Overview
- Role Type: Seasonal / Part-Time (Typically November – June/July)
- Reports To: Club Director / Volleyball Operations Manager
- Goal: Foster individual player development, teamwork, and sportsmanship while maximizing team performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Practice Planning: Design and execute structured, high-energy practice plans focused on fundamental skills (passing, setting, hitting, serving) and team systems.
- Tournament Management: Coach and manage the assigned team during weekend tournaments, handle match strategy, substitutions, and player rotations.
- Player Mentorship: Provide positive motivation, constructive feedback, and support player growth on and off the court.
- Communication: Maintain professional, timely communication with players, parents, and club administration regarding schedules, expectations, and progress.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure a safe environment, manage emergency protocols, and adhere to regional/national governing body guidelines (e.g., USA Volleyball).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Prior playing experience (high school, club, or collegiate level) and previous coaching experience preferred.
- Knowledge: Thorough understanding of volleyball rules, modern coaching techniques, and team tactics.
- Certifications: Must pass a background check (USA Volleyball/JVA requirement) and hold or be willing to obtain required coaching certifications (e.g., USAV IMPACT/CAP).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, strong leadership, patience, and a positive, motivational attitude.
