Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure including LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), and VPN (Virtual Private Network) configurations to ensure reliable connectivity.
- Implement and support network hardware such as Cisco routers, switches, firewalls (Cisco ASA), and load balancers to optimize traffic flow and security.
- Manage network security protocols including Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine), PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol), SSO (Single Sign-On), and network access controls.
- Conduct network troubleshooting using advanced tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, Splunk, and SolarWinds to identify issues related to TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), VLANs, and network hardware.
- Support system administration tasks involving Active Directory, GPO (Group Policy Objects), DHCP, DNS, NFS (Network File System), and system hardening for Windows, Linux distributions such as Debian, CentOS, Ubuntu, openSUSE, Solaris, BSD variants.
- Assist in the implementation of high availability solutions including VMware virtualization environments and SAN (Storage Area Network) setups to ensure system resilience.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and network security audits to safeguard against threats using IDS/IPS systems and vulnerability management tools like Splunk or SolarWinds.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of computer networking concepts including routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), network switching, VLANs, QoS (Quality of Service), MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching), Ethernet standards.
- Proficiency in configuring and supporting network hardware such as Cisco routers/switches, Meraki devices, firewalls (Cisco ASA), load balancers, VPNs utilizing IPsec or SSL encryption.
- Strong background in network security practices including firewall management, VPN configuration, system hardening techniques, LDAP integration for authentication purposes.
- Experience with open-source operating systems like Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Debian) and BSD variants; familiarity with Windows Server environments.
- Ability to script using PowerShell or Shell Scripting for automation tasks; knowledge of APIs for system integration.
- Skilled in using remote access software for troubleshooting across multiple platforms; adept at utilizing network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or PRTG for proactive management.
- Demonstrated ability to perform vulnerability assessments and implement security best practices within complex IT infrastructures.
