Job Summary

Colorado Safety Supply Company is looking for an energetic, highly capable Director of Operations who knows how to build teams, create accountability, drive results, and help lead a growing company through its next stage of success.

Job Summary

This is not a sit-back leadership role. We need someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys a challenge, and is excited by the opportunity to help shape a business that has tremendous room for growth. We are looking for a leader who can step into the day-to-day, support both team members and clients, and help strengthen the systems, performance, and culture that move a company forward.

The right person for this role is someone who is passionate about building strong teams, hitting goals, improving processes, and being part of a company where opportunity is everywhere. This individual will be a key asset to the daily work being done with our team and our clients, helping ensure execution is strong, communication is clear, and the business continues to grow in a healthy, organized way.

The Director of Operations will oversee a team of approximately 10–12 employees and 10 consultants. This person will be responsible for driving engagement, ensuring jobs are completed on time, keeping sales efforts active and productive, maintaining discipline in accounting and bookkeeping processes, and making sure team members follow SOPs and consistently work toward KPIs. This role will support all divisions, including sales, business development, training and consulting, fire extinguisher compliance, anchor testing, gas monitor calibrations, and equipment rentals.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to grow with a company, make a meaningful impact, and help lead a Colorado business with strong momentum and significant opportunity ahead.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of Colorado Safety Supply Company across all divisions
  • Build, coach, motivate, and hold accountable a team of approximately 10–12 employees and 10 consultants
  • Create a high-performance culture centered around urgency, ownership, communication, follow-through, and professionalism
  • Ensure daily jobs, service calls, inspections, trainings, deliveries, and customer commitments are completed accurately and on time
  • Keep team members aligned on priorities, expectations, and company goals
  • Drive a culture where people enjoy coming to work, feel supported, and are expected to perform at a high level
  • Motivate the sales team to consistently prospect, follow up, close business, and grow customer accounts
  • Monitor sales activity, pipeline performance, and customer service standards
  • Oversee the training and consulting division to ensure classes, instructors, scheduling, materials, and customer experience are executed at a high level
  • Manage the fire extinguisher business, including scheduling, workflow, operational quality, and customer follow-through
  • Partner with accounting and bookkeeping to ensure invoicing is timely, collections are actively managed, and receivables remain a priority
  • Build and reinforce operational discipline around SOP compliance, KPI tracking, reporting, and continuous improvement
  • Identify process gaps, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies, then implement practical solutions that improve performance
  • Maintain visibility into inventory, staffing coverage, service readiness, and customer priorities
  • Support ownership in setting priorities, improving profitability, and scaling the business responsibly
  • Help recruit, onboard, train, and retain team members who align with the company’s standards, culture, and growth goals

Qualifications

  • 5 years of leadership or general management experience in a small to mid-sized business
  • Strong background in retail, field service, operations, or business management
  • Proven experience building teams, leading people, and creating accountability in a hands-on environment
  • Demonstrated ability to improve execution, maintain standards, and keep teams focused on results
  • Experience managing workflows, multiple moving parts, and day-to-day operational performance
  • Experience with sales management, customer follow-up, and business development discipline
  • Working knowledge of invoicing, receivables, collections, and operational financial accountability
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication, follow-up, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable leading through change, creating structure, and helping a growing company scale
  • Proficient with standard business software, reporting tools, and operational tracking systems
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered
  • We’re looking for someone who actively invests in their own growth and is committed to ongoing learning, skill-building, and self-improvement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in safety supply, industrial distribution, construction-related services, fire protection, training operations, or compliance-based businesses
  • Familiarity with KPI dashboards, SOP development, scheduling, and service coordination
  • Experience leading both revenue-generating teams and back-office operational functions
  • Knowledge of safety training, OSHA-related services, fire extinguisher service operations, or B2B customer account management

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • Team members clearly understand expectations and are consistently held accountable
  • Sales activity is active, measurable, and improving
  • Jobs, trainings, and service work are completed on time and with fewer issues
  • SOPs are followed consistently across departments
  • KPIs are tracked and used to drive performance and decision-making
  • Outstanding invoices are being addressed and collections improve
  • Customers experience responsive, organized, professional service
  • The company becomes more efficient, more scalable, and better positioned for long-term growth

Ideal Candidate Profile

You are a builder, leader, and problem-solver. You know how to step into a business, build strong teams, improve accountability, and keep people moving in the same direction. You are not afraid of a challenge, and you are energized by the opportunity to help grow a company with real momentum and opportunity.

You know how to balance people, process, and performance. You can walk the floor, lead from the front, support clients, hold the team accountable, and bring order to a fast-moving business with many priorities.
