Role Description
The Technical Lead will guide the architecture and development of Colorado Protective Services’ secure job-management platform. This is a full-time remote position with responsibility for establishing the application’s technical foundation, directing development work, and ensuring the platform is secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable.
The Technical Lead will work closely with company leadership, developers, and cybersecurity professionals to translate operational requirements into practical technical solutions. This position combines hands-on technical work with architectural leadership, development planning, code review, documentation, and team mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and oversee the architecture of a secure web and mobile application.
* Translate operational and business requirements into clear technical plans and development tasks.
* Establish coding standards, development workflows, testing requirements, and documentation practices.
* Guide developers through implementation and review their code for quality, security, and maintainability.
* Design secure authentication, role-based access controls, and permission systems that restrict sensitive job information to specifically authorized users.
* Oversee the secure handling of client information, employee data, timestamps, location information, and operational records.
* Collaborate with cybersecurity professionals on threat modeling, security reviews, penetration testing, and remediation.
* Evaluate cloud services, frameworks, APIs, databases, and other technologies used by the platform.
* Troubleshoot complex technical problems and support the resolution of performance, reliability, and security issues.
* Help plan development sprints, establish priorities, estimate technical work, and evaluate completed deliverables.
* Maintain technical documentation covering system architecture, deployment procedures, security controls, and development standards.
* Support the hiring, evaluation, and mentorship of additional developers as the technical team grows.
Qualifications
* Demonstrated experience leading software-development projects and making system-architecture decisions.
* Strong hands-on software-development experience with modern programming languages, frameworks, databases, APIs, and cloud platforms.
* Experience designing or maintaining secure web applications, mobile applications, or software-as-a-service platforms.
* Knowledge of authentication, authorization, role-based access control, encryption, secure API design, and data-protection practices.
* Experience with system integration, performance optimization, testing, deployment, and production troubleshooting.
* Ability to convert business requirements into clear technical specifications and development plans.
* Experience reviewing code, setting engineering standards, and mentoring developers.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
* Ability to work effectively in a remote environment while independently managing priorities and responsibilities.
* Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience developing software for security operations, workforce management, field services, scheduling, logistics, or other regulated industries.
* Experience handling sensitive client, employee, location, or operational data.
* Familiarity with secure software-development practices, privacy requirements, audit logging, incident response, and recognized security frameworks.
* Experience collaborating with security architects, penetration testers, or external security reviewers.
* Experience helping an early-stage product progress from prototype through production deployment.
