DEPARTMENT: Sonography.
REPORTS TO: Director of Ultrasound
JOB SUMMARY: The Sonographer will use the Ultrasound equipment to image fetal and/or patient well-being and/or pathology in the obstetric and non-obstetric patient. This can include EFW, dating, evaluation of fetus and uterus for pathology, evaluation of pelvis for pathology, and assistance in ultrasound guided procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Explain ultrasound procedures to patients so they feel comfortable with the experience
- Perform all routine diagnostic 1st trimester, 2nd trimester and 3rd trimester 2D ultrasounds
- Perform non-routine diagnostic, high risk, nuchal translucency and genetic 2D/3D ultrasounds
- Writes up all diagnostic ultrasound reports and gives verbal reports to providers as needed
- Perform all add on ultrasounds as needed for each provider
- Perform 3D/4D entertainment ultrasounds and puts together DVD (USB) and picture package
- Assist providers with ultrasound guided amniocentesis, sonohystograms and IUD inserts
- Probe maintenance, cleaning and sterilization
- Trophon maintenance and cleaning
- Calibrate, maintain and control ultrasound equipment to Troubleshoot problems with IPACS reviewing and ultrasound machine errors and software issues
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- 1 year experience in obstetrical ultrasound
- Able to work independently
- Responsible & reliable
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills
- Graduate of an Accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program required
- ARDMS registered (OB/GYN) required within 6 months of hire
- NT certification preferred required within 6 months of hire
- 3D/4D Ultrasound experience preferred
