The Department of Physical & Environmental Sciences at Colorado Mesa University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Geosciences specializing in Applied Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing, beginning August 2026.
We welcome applications from candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Mineral and Energy Resources Exploration, Applied GIS for Earth and Environmental systems, Natural Hazards and Risk Assessment, Remote Sensing and Image Analysis (e.g., multispectral and hyperspectral interpretation, LiDAR, UAV photogrammetry; Python-based and/or AI-based workflows in ArcGIS Pro), and Planetary Geology.
The ideal candidate will be team-focused and should demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education, mentoring, and scholarly activity. They should also support a curriculum that integrates field-based, lab-based, and computational approaches to prepare students for careers in both industry and academia.
