CLLARO’s Capitol Fellowship Program has cultivated more than 170 alumni who now serve in leadership roles across government, business, and nonprofits. The organization advances collaborative advocacy with Latino and allied organizations on shared priorities, while its research and policy analysis focus on time-sensitive policy issues that impact Latino communities. Originally founded as the Latin American Research and Service Agency (LARASA), CLLARO continues to evolve its strategy to help make democracy work for Latinos in Colorado.
Role Description The Public Policy Analyst is a full-time, on-site role based in Denver, CO, responsible for supporting CLLARO’s advocacy and research agenda focused on Latino communities in Colorado. This role involves conducting policy research, collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, and monitoring legislative and regulatory developments at the local and state levels. The analyst will draft policy briefs, reports, fact sheets, and testimony, translating complex information into clear, accessible materials for diverse audiences. Responsibilities include collaborating with community partners and coalitions, attending hearings and meetings, and providing analytical support for advocacy campaigns and leadership programs. The Public Policy Analyst will also assist with stakeholder engagement, community education, and internal strategy discussions to help inform CLLARO’s positions and priorities.
Qualifications
- Strong policy development and policy research skills, with experience shaping recommendations and tracking policy outcomes.
- A Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree from an APPAM-affiliated, accredited university in the United States with a core curriculum requiring integration and application of microeconomic theory, political and organizational analysis, law, mathematical modeling, and statistics.
- Demonstrated analytical skills and research abilities, including data interpretation, critical thinking, and synthesis of complex information.
- Excellent communication skills, including clear writing for policy audiences and community members, and confident verbal communication in meetings and presentations.
- Applicants will be asked to submit an example of an analysis they prepared for an actual client addressing an impending public policy decision.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and empowerment of Latino communities and experience working with diverse communities are strongly preferred.
- Personal experience working or living in lower income Latino communities in the United States is a plus.
- Familiarity with Colorado’s public policy landscape, legislative processes, or civic engagement work is a plus.
- Mastery of both English and Spanish languages is a plus.
