Our offices are located in Eagle, Summit, Clear Creek and Lake Counties providing access to world class skiing, mountain biking, rafting, kayaking, fly fishing, amazing scenery, and a healthy lifestyle with close proximity to Denver. Employees have the option to work a 4 x 10-hour schedule – that’s more time to ski, fish, hike, raft, and camp. Attorneys also receive a complimentary EPIC ski pass for skiing at all Vail Resort mountains including Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Crested Butte and many others across the U.S.
Locations
Mountain communities of Breckenridge, Georgetown, Eagle, and Leadville, Colorado with access to the Vail-Eagle County airport, Denver International Airport and Denver cultural attractions and sporting events.

Our mission is to fairly and equitably uphold and enforce the laws of the State of Colorado and to seek justice in all cases. The office has a staff of 35 employees including attorneys, investigators and support personnel, who are all passionate about upholding the rights of victims and defendants, while keeping our mountain communities safe and healthy.
We are dedicated to focusing on work-life balance, on-going classroom and practical training, mentoring, and community engagement. Attorneys are encouraged to attend continuing legal education (CLEs) both in Colorado and across the country. We are looking to enhance our prosecutors’ professional development, and to help them establish expertise in specialized areas of criminal law.
Our “Intern to Deputy DA Pipeline” is a program available for 3L law students. 3Ls get to intern between taking the bar exam and receiving their results, gaining incredibly valuable experience by working on the exact caseload they’ll be assigned upon passing the bar exam. Interns roll seamlessly into DDA positions so they can hit the ground running.

Job Description
Deputy District Attorneys are responsible for the criminal prosecution of misdemeanor and traffic offenses and must appear regularly in county court proceedings on behalf of the People of the State of Colorado.
Duties
- Represent the People in the 5th Judicial District in all county court matters.
- Responsible for management of a caseload from the filing of charges through disposition; including preparing for and appearing at bond hearings, arraignments, motions hearings, pretrial conferences, court and jury trials, sentencing hearings, and appeals to district court.
- Ensure that victims of crime are treated with dignity and respect, and that they have a voice throughout all stages in the criminal justice system.
- Provide legal advice to law enforcement.
- Engage in other duties and special projects as assigned by the District Attorney.
- Ability to manage a heavy caseload.
- Ability to handle extensive research and writing assignments including responding to complex 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th and 14th Amendment motions.
- Ability to review and analyze criminal case filings from law enforcement.
- Effective interpersonal skills are essential.
- Must be able to work efficiently and effectively in a high-stress environment, and maintain professional relationships with co-workers, law enforcement, victims, defense counsel, court staff and officials, and the general public.
- Must be committed to protecting the public and working to improve the criminal justice system.
- Juris Doctorate from ABA accredited law school.
- License to practice law in Colorado at the time of appointment.
- Valid driver’s license.
