What are the responsibilities and job description for the Floating Early Childhood Teacher position at COLORADO ACADEMY?
- Support Mentor Teachers and Lead Teachers in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for infants through preschoolers.
- Supervise and actively engage with children during indoor and outdoor play, mealtimes, naptimes, transitions, and other daily routines.
- Foster children's social and emotional development by modeling positive behavior, offering encouragement, and mediating conflicts with patience and empathy.
- Assist with classroom management, including facilitating smooth transitions and addressing behavioral challenges constructively and positively.
- Assist with all aspects of children's personal care, including diapering and toileting, with patience, respect, and attention to each child's dignity and comfort.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment by sanitizing toys and equipment, organizing materials, and adhering to all health and safety protocols.
- Communicate warmly and regularly with families, sharing updates on children's activities, developmental progress, and any relevant observations or concerns.
- Follow all school policies and procedures, including those related to confidentiality, child protection, and emergency response.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Colorado Shines Credential — Level One
- Previous experience working with young children across multiple age groups.
- Strong foundational knowledge of early childhood health and safety practices.
- Genuine love for working with young children and families, with a warm, positive, and patient demeanor.
- Ability to build rapport with children, families, and colleagues of varying personalities and backgrounds.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively and receive direction gracefully.
- Flexibility and adaptability to move between classrooms and age groups throughout the day.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Some college coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Colorado Shines Credential — Level Two or higher
- Experience with infant and toddler care (3 months and up)
- Familiarity with curriculum frameworks used in early childhood settings.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to stoop, bend, kneel and squat
- Ability to stand for long periods

The pay for this position is $21.00-$23.00 an hour. Although this is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex, gender, or gender identity, but relates solely to a seniority system, a merit system, or relevant education, training and/or experience. Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance benefit programs are available, as is a 403(b) retirement plan. Eligibility for all benefit programs is defined by the applicable plan document.
