The Colonie Youth Center (CYC) is seeking a dependable, energetic, and caring School Age Child Care (SACC) Floater to support our before-school and after-school programs throughout the community. Responsibilities
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children in the program.
- Supervise and actively engage with children during activities.
- Organize and participate in recreational games and activities.
- Monitor children's behavior and whereabouts to ensure they are never left unattended.
- Assist Site Supervisors with program implementation.
- Report incidents and injuries according to established procedures.
- Maintain positive communication with children, families, supervisors, and fellow staff.
- Support compliance with Office of Children and Family Services regulations.
- Maintain program and school equipment.
- Attend required trainings and staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Schedule
- Work five days per week in before-school and/or after-school programs as needed.
- Assignments may vary by location and staffing needs.
- Morning (BSP) schedule notifications provided by 6:30 a.m.
- Afternoon (ASP) schedule notifications provided by 12:00 p.m.
- Must be available for full-day and half-day program coverage when needed.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
- High school diploma and experience (paid or volunteer) working with children under age 13; OR
- Associate degree or completion of two years of college in a related field; OR
- Child Development Associate (CDA) or similar Child Development Certificate.
Additionally, candidates should:
- Enjoy working with children.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and flexibility.
- Work well independently and as part of a team.
Transportation Requirement
Because Floaters may be assigned to different program locations, applicants must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to various program sites as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and staff.
