What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Teacher/Floater/Substitute position at COLONIAL HEIGHTS PRESBYTERIAN DAY SCHOOL?

OBJECTIVES
To provide an atmosphere for a positive preschool experience that will prepare the child for entry into the primary school system by promoting:
*Social and emotional development
*Fine and gross motor development
*Development of self-help skills
*Speech and language development
*Cognitive development
JOB DUTIES
*Assist the lead teacher as needed in implementing daily lesson plans, including art projects, circle time, reading books, and educational games.
* Actively monitor children at all times, including in the classroom, during meals, on the playground, during nap time, and during transitions to ensure safety.
*Assist children with self-help skills, including toileting, diapering, handwashing, and eating, ensuring proper hygiene protocols are met.
*Help maintain a clean, tidy, and organized classroom environment, including sanitizing toys and prepping materials.
*Observe children and report developmental progress or behavioral concerns to the lead teacher.
*Maintain professional and positive communication with parents and staff
*Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
*Experience: High School Diploma or GED required; CDA (Child Development Associate), College Degree, or college credits in Early Childhood Education preferred.
*Skills: Patience, creativity, strong communication skills, flexibility, a passion for working with children, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
*Certifications: Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
*Background Check: Must pass full background check and have health screenings.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
*Ability to stand, walk, sit on the floor, and bend for extended periods.
*Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
*Ability to work in a moderate to loud, high-energy environment.

Pay: $10.00 - $13.00 per hour
