Duties
- Install, service, and repair commercial refrigeration units, HVAC systems and related mechanical equipment using schematics and technical manuals.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics and troubleshoot electrical systems within refrigeration and HVAC equipment to identify faults quickly and accurately.
- Perform routine maintenance on HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration) systems to ensure efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
- Utilize hand tools, ohmmeters, welding equipment, and other specialized tools to repair or replace mechanical components.
- Diagnose complex issues involving all types of refrigeration systems and implement effective solutions promptly.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and HVAC design plans to facilitate accurate installation and repairs.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, incident logs, and maintenance documentation for all work performed.
- Ensure compliance with EPA regulations related to refrigerants and environmental safety standards.
- Assist in the installation of commercial kitchen equipment, commercial refrigeration systems and components including electrical and plumbing as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system status, repairs needed, and maintenance recommendations.
Skills
- Proven experience in construction or property maintenance environments with a focus on commercial refrigeration or HVAC systems.
- Strong service technician background with hands-on experience troubleshooting equipment using schematics and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of HVAC design principles, plumbing systems, electrical diagnostics, and mechanical systems repair.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, welding equipment, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic instruments essential for equipment repair.
- Mechanical knowledge of refrigeration cycles including all types of refrigeration systems
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams accurately for installation or troubleshooting purposes.
- Experience with HVAC systems, maintenance procedures including air conditioning units
- Excellent customer service skills to effectively communicate technical information to clients at all levels of understanding.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to operate company vehicles safely.
- Certifications such as EPA refrigerant handling certification are required; additional certifications in welding or appliance repair are advantageous.
