Position Overview
Colon Community Schools is seeking a highly organized and professional Elementary Administrative Assistant to support the daily operations of the elementary office. This role serves as a key point of contact for students, families, and staff, while providing direct administrative support to the Elementary Principal.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, customer-service driven, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for students, families, staff, and visitors
- Maintain accurate student records using PowerSchool (or similar system)
- Process student enrollments, withdrawals, and transfers
- Support daily attendance tracking and communication with families
- Assist with pupil accounting and state reporting requirements
- Provide clerical support to the Special Education department
- Coordinate schedules, meetings, and office procedures
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and communications
- Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information (FERPA compliance)
- Manage office supplies and support general office operations
- Assist with substitute coordination and staff absence tracking
- Maintain student immunization records and ensure compliance
- Perform general clerical duties (filing, copying, scanning, etc.)
- Collaborate with staff to support student and building needs
Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Previous administrative or school office experience preferred
- Experience with PowerSchool or similar student information systems preferred
- Proficiency with Google Workspace
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
