Auto Body Shop Assistant

Job Summary:

The Auto Body Assistant supports technicians and shop staff in performing collision repair, refinishing, and vehicle restoration tasks. This role involves preparing vehicles for repair, assisting with part removal and installation, maintaining a clean work area, and ensuring efficient workflow throughout the shop. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and committed to delivering high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean shop floors/area.
• Assist auto body technicians with vehicle disassembly, preparation, and reassembly.
• Sand, mask, and prep vehicle surfaces for painting.
• Remove and install parts such as bumpers, lights, and trim components.
• Clean and detail vehicles before and after repair.
• Maintain shop cleanliness and organization, including tools and work areas.
• Deliver parts, materials, and vehicles as needed.
• Mix paint and materials under supervision (as applicable).
• Assist in inspecting vehicles for quality and completeness before delivery.
• Follow all safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Support the team with other tasks as directed by the shop manager or lead technician.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in an auto body shop or automotive setting preferred, but not required.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle parts, tools, and repair processes.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in a shop environment with noise, dust, and chemicals.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
