Duties
- Prepare surfaces thoroughly by cleaning, sanding, caulking, and priming to ensure optimal paint adhesion and finish quality
- Apply paints, stains, varnishes, and specialty coatings using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and power tools with precision and attention to detail
- Perform surface repairs including patching holes, sanding rough areas, and restoring damaged drywall or plaster before painting
- Execute specialty finishes such as faux painting, textured coatings, or decorative techniques when required
- Read blueprints and schematics to accurately determine project scope and specifications for color schemes and surface treatments
- Operate heavy equipment and power tools safely to facilitate large-scale or complex projects
- Collaborate with construction teams to coordinate schedules, ensure safety compliance, and meet project deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality
Skills
- Proficiency in construction-related skills including blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and surface preparation techniques
- Experience with construction management principles such as scheduling and project coordination
- Knowledge of construction estimating processes for material needs and project timelines
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, scaffolding, and safety equipment on construction sites
- Familiarity with Bluebeam software for digital plan review and documentation management
- Hands-on experience with various construction trades such as carpentry (trim carpentry, door hanging), masonry (stucco), roofing, flooring installation, tile laying, concrete finishing, plastering, fabrication, glass installation, cabinet installation, framing carpentry, restoration work, hardscape installation, welding basics, masonry work, remodeling projects
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely when necessary for site access or material handling
- Strong understanding of construction inspection standards to ensure quality control throughout each phase of the project
- Knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems relevant to interior finishing projects is a plus
