Collins, Barr & Hembree, Ltd., a well-established CPA firm located in Madison, Mississippi, is currently searching for a payroll specialist to provide services to our clients. We serve a broad range of clients including governmental entities, nonprofit organizations, and privately-held businesses. We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team and help deliver best-in-class service to our clients.

Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist will manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple client accounts. This role requires strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to confidentiality and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll for multiple clients.
  • Maintain and update employee records, wage information, and tax data.
  • Review timesheets, PTO, and deductions to ensure accurate payroll calculations.
  • Handle payroll tax filings and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare payroll reports and assist clients with payroll-related inquiries.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and support year-end processes (W-2s, 1099s).
  • Collaborate with internal accounting teams to ensure smooth client service delivery.
  • Monitor changes in wage laws and payroll regulations.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a CPA or multi-client environment.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Experience with payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks, Gusto, or similar.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills.
  • Strong customer service and communication abilities.
