Collins Aerospace is seeking a software Engineering Intern to join our Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) team. This role supports the development, integration, and verification of advanced avionics and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) software.
Qualifications We Prefer

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

Collins Aerospace is seeking a software Engineering Intern to join our Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) team. This role supports the development, integration, and verification of advanced avionics and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) software.
- Design, implement, integrate, and test embedded software for advanced avionics navigation systems
- Develop and execute verification plans, procedures, and test cases for GNSS algorithms, navigation functions, and integrity‑monitoring software
- Apply automation, scripting, and GenAI‑enhanced tools to improve verification quality and efficiency
- Collaborate with navigation algorithm, systems, and hardware engineering teams to ensure robust end‑to‑end system performance
- Core GNSS concepts, including GPS signal structures, tracking algorithms, navigation filters, and PNT system performance
- Techniques in jamming/spoofing detection, RF threat analysis, and resilient navigation techniques
- DO‑178C DAL A development and verification practices for safety‑critical avionics
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
- Experience with embedded C/C software development
- Proficient in using Python/MATLAB for signal analysis, test vectors, and prototyping
Qualifications We Prefer
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
- Knowledge of GNSS Fundamentals and navigation systems
- Understanding of basic algorithms and data structures
- Working knowledge of SVN and Atlassian tools (e.g. Jira, Jama)
