What are the responsibilities and job description for the Painter II (Onsite) position at Collins Aerospace?
Collins Aerospace is looking for a Painter II to oversee the finishing of aircraft components that are essential to aerodynamics, noise reduction, airflow efficiency, and landing deceleration. Your work will contribute to the delivery of airplane technology to the largest manufacturers in the world.
* This position is onsite at Foley, AL. Relocation is available for this role.*
Primary Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprint specifications, SRM’s and shop orders to determine area to be sealed and painted.
- Stir mixture with shaker machine or mix by hand.
- Apply cleaning solvent or other solution to interior and exterior surfaces.
- Clean and roughen the surface of objects to be coated.
- Apply paint primers, clear coat, sealants or adhesives.
- Apply spray release to component or sealing material on coated surface for further protection.
- Complete seal and water testing of components.
- Install foam pockets, seal caps or Velcro.
- Install and seal small detail parts or small sub-assemblies.
- Dispose of hazardous material.
- Mask area for application.
- Mix and deliver sealants to specified areas.
- Maintain inventory of chemicals and paints.
- Participate in area organization and cleaning activities.
- Make placards for cataloging of chemicals.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Operate forklift, overhead crane, tugger (will be trained) and drive a golf cart as required.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED or AA/AS degree; OR
Other 2-year post high school training; OR
In absence of a diploma or degree, must have 3 years of relevant manufacturing, assembly, and/or construction / facilities experience.
- Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder.
- Experience with painting or prepping surfaces for painting.
