What You Will Do
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Collins Aerospace, you will work in the Air Data Sensors (ADS) design team and be responsible for working on integrated product teams to develop new, advanced air data sensors products while also supporting existing products in production.
The Mechanical Engineering Intern will be part of an integrated research and development team focused on developing new sensor technology. The intern should have a broad interest in the field of engineering. You will be engaged in new and existing product design, including but not limited to the design of sensor packaging, prototype build/test activities, design for manufacturing, and documentation.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

What You Will Do

- Provide support to Design Engineers in areas such as: mechanical CAD design, thermal analysis, material science, system testing, data collection, and analyzing test data
- Participate in design decision making and lab prototype testing
- Work fluidly within multidisciplinary, cross-functional teams executing projects according to plan
- You will have access to a world class wind tunnel, environmental test lab, and forensics investigation lab to help our team continue delivering industry leading air data solutions.
- The intern engineer should be a highly motivated self-starter capable of driving tasks and small projects to completion on time and on budget.
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
- Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as Creo, SolidWorks, Onshape, and/or NX
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience with MATLAB and engineering drawings
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and/or Outlook)
- Experience working on cross-functional teams
- A minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session
- Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience
