Engineering Designer III- Civil/Site Land Development

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Engineering Designer III to join our growing Civil/Site Land Development team in Jacksonville, FL.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced civil engineering professional to work on a diverse range of land development projects while advancing their technical expertise and design capabilities. As part of our Jacksonville team, you'll collaborate with talented engineers and project managers on projects that help shape communities throughout Northeast Florida.

Our projects span residential, commercial, industrial, mixed-use, and public infrastructure developments. In this role, you'll contribute to projects from the initial due diligence and planning phases through final design and construction support. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of technical design tasks, mentor junior staff, and further develop your expertise in site development, grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility design.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop civil/site design plans for land development projects.
• Review municipal zoning and land development ordinances and applicable agency regulations.
• Perform site investigations, due diligence research, utility coordination, and site evaluations.
• Prepare concept plans and preliminary layouts based on client objectives and project requirements.
• Design stormwater management and stormwater conveyance systems utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, including drainage area mapping, pipe sizing, stormwater analysis, and related design tasks.
• Prepare grading and drainage plans with an emphasis on value engineering and site functionality.
• Design subdivision layouts and site development plans.
• Design utility systems, including stormwater, sanitary sewer, water, gas, and other infrastructure components.
• Evaluate and resolve vertical and horizontal utility conflicts.
• Prepare soil erosion and sediment control plans and supporting calculations.
• Develop construction cost estimates and supporting project documentation.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, engineers, and design staff to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Lead portions of project design efforts and provide technical guidance to less experienced team members.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable local, county, and state regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 4 years of civil engineering and land development experience.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design software.
• Experience preparing grading, drainage, stormwater, utility, and site development designs.
• Knowledge of local municipal, county, and state land use, planning, zoning, and permitting processes.
• Understanding of stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrologic analysis, and site development principles.
• Ability to independently complete design assignments and contribute to larger project teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical design skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience collaborating with engineers, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
