The purpose of this classification is to perform preserve management, maintenance, environmental monitoring, and planning of amenities for Conservation Collier preserves. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES • Primary function is management and maintenance of Conservation Collier preserves.
- Provides information and technical assistance concerning natural resources, and preserve maintenance; meets with and discusses preserve maintenance and projects with property owners, contractors, and the public; recommends solutions to problems.
- Coordinates environmental activities relating to conservation including wildlife monitoring, preserve monitoring, and restoration monitoring.
- Performs inspections of restoration projects; reviews restoration landscape plans and storm management plans.
- Conducts inspections of conservation/preservation areas; evaluates the condition of land and habitat; assesses value and quality of habitat; prepares environmental mitigation plans.
- Prepares staff reports, executive summaries, and resolutions; makes presentations to County Commissioners, Conservation Collier Land Acquisition Advisory Committee, and Planning Commission.
- Provides support for the development of County natural resource management policy; acquires and analyzes data to assess the impact on natural resources; produces geographic data to facilitate analysis; converts geographic coordinate systems in data sets; collects GPS coordinates to locate data and converts GPS data to analyzable formats; edits computerized mapping drawings for use in geographical information system (GIS); prepares data in a wide variety of formats.
- Performs environmental monitoring and maintenance on County-managed preserve property; applies herbicides to maintain exotic plant control.
- Assists with the development of environmental ordinances, amendments, policies, and procedures.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
- Monitor inventory of Division equipment and supplies; ensure availability of adequate materials to conduct work activities; initiate requisitions for new/replacement materials; obtain product information and competitive price quotes for prospective purchases.
- Performs other related duties as required. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
- Salary offers above the minimum pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
- Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared or declared emergency. The County’s Administrative Office will determine who will be required to work on an incident-by-incident basis.
