This is a pivotal role in maintaining the safety and well-being of students, staff, and facilities across the district.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of district buildings and grounds for compliance with SREF, Florida Fire Prevention Codes, and other regulations.
- Review fire and life safety plans for construction projects.
- Serve as the authority having jurisdiction for fire code compliance.
- Coordinate with school and public officials to ensure safety standards are met.
- Monitor fire suppression systems and recommend services.
- Maintain strong relationships with fire safety, health, and sanitation agencies.
- Assist in accident investigations and emergency responses.
- Support recycling programs and shelter operations during severe weather.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED (Associate’s degree preferred).
- 3 years of related experience (preferably in educational facility safety).
- Certified Fire Inspector and SREF Certification.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, Florida Fire Prevention Codes, and Uniform Fire Safety Standards.
- Ability to interpret safety documents and write reports.
- Basic computer skills.
