Collider is looking for a sharp and dependable Freelance News Editor to join the team.
Collider is the ultimate source for impactful entertainment news. We deliver the biggest, most important industry happenings and provide deep analysis and sharp commentary through interviews, reviews, and more. We require editors who are driven, meticulous, and thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
As a News Editor, you will oversee breaking news coverage across the entertainment landscape. This includes assigning stories, editing content for clarity, accuracy, SEO, and style, and collaborating closely with writers to ensure Collider’s editorial standards are met. If you have a keen editorial eye, strong industry awareness, and experience in digital publishing, we’d love to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
Delegate and assign breaking TV/movie news to writers
Write and/or edit news articles as needed
Ensure all content follows AP Style, house voice, and SEO best practices
Edit and publish a wide range of news articles across entertainment topics
Maintain high standards of spelling, grammar, and factual accuracy
Provide feedback and guidance to writers to help refine and elevate content
Applicants must be highly motivated and possess the following:
Prior experience in digital publishing or editorial roles (entertainment news preferred)
Strong understanding of the entertainment and pop culture landscape
Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Excellent editorial judgment and attention to detail
Solid knowledge of SEO principles and headline writing
Strong communication skills, especially when providing constructive editorial feedback
Comfort working in CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress)
